Text Messages - Is it possible for me to prevent a patient from receiving a text or e-mail in the future?
Absolutely. You have several choices here. Please watch our video tutorials to learn more.
When you set up your Dental Senders account the system will default to send text messages to all patients
If you need to edit the text message options you will need to log into your Dental Senders Account
1. Option one is have text messages "on" for all patients. This is the default setting.
2. Option two, If a patient requests not to receive text message you can turn text messages off for that one patient.
Log into your Dental Senders Account
Select the patients tab on the left of the screen.
Search for the patients name by first or last name (remember the name needs a capital letter in the search bar)
When you find the patient click on the patients name or click view (on the right of the screen)
Click the “Notifications Preference” tab
Select the notifications that you want that patient to receive
Click “Update”
That’s it, you’re done.
3. Option three, turn text messages off for all patients and as patients tell you they want to receive text messages (opt-in) you can turn text messages on for that patients
Log into your Dental Senders Account
Select the patients tab on the left of the screen.
Click the "Disable Text Msg" button.
This will turn text messages off for all patients
As patients tell you they want to receive text messages you can turn the feature on for one patient at a time.

To do this you need to

2. Click the "Birthday's" tab
3. Click "Configure Delivery Service"

Do My Patients Get Charged for Text messages?
This is a great question and is a legitimate concern. Text messages can work three ways with your patients
1. The patient has turned off text messages on their phone. They did this through their phone provider and so can not receive text messages (this is a small % of the population).
2. Patients do not have a text plan and will be charged on a per text basis. This is outside our control. From your perspective you would prefer for a patient to get a text message reminder and refund them the 10 cents. We recommend a jar that says take a dime if you received a text message from us. This is a fun way to get around it.
3. Many patients have a text message plan and so incur no extra cost.
Keep in mind if a patient says to you that they do not want to receive text messages you can turn them off in your Dental Senders account.

Text messaging
I've noticed that when a text message is sent, the "FROM" field says : 83960, instead of our office name or the doctors name. Is there anyway to adjust this setting?

No. This is not a Dental Senders restriction.
Text messaging is regulated and needs approval and White Listing. The number that shows up is an approved "Short Code" that helps us guarantee the delivery of the text message however, sometimes (rarely) they are still not delivered by the local provider e.g. ATT.

We do not have a confirm button on the text messages but your text messages are "hotlinked" what this allows your patients to do is click your number thatr is in the text message and it calls your office phone.

Hi, this is the office number that is hotlinked in your text message - 502-423-7868. Hope this is correct?

Ok so I know its not an option now, but you did say that it would become an option. How soon can we expect to see text back as an option for confirming appts. This cool techy service should be complete, meaning that if they reply "Yup, i will b there" that we will get an email to say this so we are not bugging our patients. This is a huge problem in our practice. Thanks!

Unfortunately, on many levels this is not a straight forward option to add. We will be adding the following option in the October 1st release. You can choose from the following to have in your text messages
1. Do not reply
2. Call to confirm
3. Add whatever you want e.g. see you soon.
We are working with our provider to add the feature that you are requesting. The bottom line is it cost considerable dollars to get this feature. If enough of our clients wanted this we could provide it but they'd have to pay. Our ad model does not cover the cost of this. Sorry.
